Gutenberg and the guerrilleros
With Tristan Nitot.
The invention of printing by Gutenberg has been a boon to humanity, enabling Western countries to store and share knowledge at a pace that had never been seen before. The Internet, to some extent, can be compared to printing in the sense that it further helps culture and knowledge sharing despite distances. The Free software movement is itself has benefited from the Internet, and is now one of its driving forces, while some large corporations failed to innovate in this domain when trying to "control" the Web. During this talk, the importance of Web standards will be discussed, while explaining that standardizing is actually necessary for diversity.
